DHL Academy of Humanitarian Logistics

The DHL Academy of Humanitarian Logistics is a global capacity building program empowering humanitarian actors with critical logistics expertise – designed by the world's leading logistics provider.

Led by DHL GoHelp, DHL Academy of Humanitarian Logistics offers online and hands-on trainings, logistics assessments, expert consultations, and digital learning to strengthen logistics skills – so that help can reach people faster and more effectively during emergencies.

A global enablement initiative for the humanitarian world

For over 20 years, our GoHelp program has supported humanitarian missions through global partnerships with UN OCHA, UNDP, WFP and others – delivering rapid logistics response in some of the world's most complex emergencies.

In that time, we’ve earned the trust of the humanitarian sector as a reliable logistics partner. But now, we are being asked to go further – not just to respond to disasters, but to prepare the sector to manage logistics independently.

The DHL Academy of Humanitarian Logistics is our answer to this call. A platform to enable, equip, and empower local and global humanitarian responders – so that aid moves smarter, faster, and more efficiently when lives are on the line.

Enabling the full humanitarian logistics ecosystem

We aim to ensure that responders at all levels – from local NGOs to UN agencies – have access to practical, actionable knowledge and enablement that helps them overcome bottlenecks, reduce delays, and deliver relief when it matters most. The Academy’s structure and content are based on over two decades of experience in humanitarian aid in the field and cooperation with more than 10 global NGO partners. In addition, the content is based on needs assessments conducted at GoHelp conferences and field operations, as well as feedback from local logisticians and responders.

Participating in the DHL Academy sessions was a truly valuable experience. The trainings were not only practical and hands-on—covering essential topics like packing and palletization, dangerous goods handling, and customs regulations—but also enriched by private sector insights that were thoughtfully aligned with the unique challenges of humanitarian logistics. For colleagues working on the ground, this kind of targeted, experience-based learning is incredibly empowering. It’s initiatives like these that make a real difference in strengthening our collective emergency response.

When designing DHL Academy of Humanitarian Logistics we invited Tech To The Rescue (TTTR), a global movement of great tech teams and ambitious nonprofits working together to co-create an online platform for Academy and help us reach regional and local aid providers from different parts of the world. TTTR is a strategic partner of the program who will also supply participants of the Academy with additional technological support to their needs.

Target groups of the Academy:

  • Local Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) – handling last-mile delivery
  • Civil Protection & National Agencies – coordinating national response
  • Regional Humanitarian Networks – facilitating multi-country operations
  • UN Clusters & International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGO) – overseeing complex, global relief supply chains

Designed solely for humanitarian organizations, the program excludes private sector participation to maintain its focus on nonprofit and relief-driven efforts.

The program is structured around the following formats:

  • Online Trainings – Facilitator-led virtual sessions
  • In-Person Trainings & Simulations – Practical, immersive workshops
  • Assessments – Skill and infrastructure advise with DHL experts
  • E-Learning Modules – Self-paced, mobile-accessible logistics courses
